He studied Humanities in Compostela and learnt classic languages as well as French, English and Italian. He carried out several offices in A Coruña and Santiago throughout his life.

 Work & Activities

When he was twenty he presented his work Disertación geográfica histórica sobre cuál hubiese sido el antiguo asiento de la ciudad Límica o Lémica, señalada por patria de Dacio en el prólogo de su Cronicón as a speech to enter the Academy of History. Mapa corográfico de la antigua Galicia is one of his most important scientific works but he is also the author of many reports, projects and monographs on Agriculture, Mining, Fishing, Education, Geography and Natural History. From the linguistic and literary point of view, he wrote a sonet titled ‘A Filida’, which is considered as a masterpiece of our literature for its form and sensitiveness. Almost all his work remained unpublished and part of it is lost.

 Other Interesting Aspects

In 1765, he founded the Galician Academy of Agriculture and some years later he participated in the creation of the Economical Society of Santiago and the Society of Lugo.
