He studied Teaching in Madrid and worked as a teacher in several Galician villages. In 1935, he was nominated as inspector of Primary Education in Lugo and then he was appointed to Cáceres and Toledo. He collaborated in important magazines with archaeological, ethnographic, historical, pedagogic and heraldic works and in numerous Galician newspapers with hundred of articles. His defence of Galicia and Galician language was present throught his life, even in Madrid. He took part in many cultural initiatives and together with Ramón Cabanillas he was the president of 'Castelao' group, a group of university young people in Madrid.

 Work & Activities

These are some of his most important works: Andrómenas (1953), Berzas (1953), A ducia do frade (1966), Catón Galego (1969), Santa María de Moreiras (1969), Contos de fiadeiro (1973) and O meu Ourense (unpublished). During the period he spent in Cáceres and Toledo, he wrote Costumbres cacereñas, Carnavales en Extremadura y Geografía popular toledana.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He began to use the pseudonym 'Ben-Cho-Shey' in 1922 when he sent some articles from Melilla to the newspaper La Zarpa of Ourense. He had already used the pseudonym 'Xan Fandiño'. He was member of several academies and institutions in Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina.
