She moved to Mexico in 1904 and began to work as a theatre actress, being very successful all over Latin America. Together with her husband, who was also an actor, she founded Nostra Productions in Venezuela in the early 20’s and directed several religious shorts (‘Acto de caridad’, ‘La caridad entra por casa’, ‘No matarás’ and ‘El ángel de la guarda’). During the 50’s, she collaborated on Continental radio stations, dependent on the Patronage of Galician Culture in Mexico.
Prudencia Grifell participated as an actress in many films: ‘Viejo nido’ (1940), ‘Internado de señoritas’ and ‘Adulterio’ (1943), ‘La culpable’ (1944), ‘Corazones de México’ (1945), ‘Otoño y primavera’ and ‘Soledad’ (1947), ‘Ladronzuela’ (1949), ‘Sobre las olas’ and ‘Casa de vecindad’ (1950), ‘Aquellos ojos verdes’ and ‘Dos caras tiene el destino’ (1951), ‘Sor Alegría’ and ‘Los dineros del diablo’ (1952), ‘La sexta carrera’, ‘Las infieles’ and ‘Siete mujeres’ (1953), ‘Prisionera del pasado’ and ‘Una mujer en la calle’ (1954), ‘La fuerza del deseo’, ‘Tres melodías de amor’ and ‘Sublime melodía’ (1955), ‘Pensión de artistas’ (1956), ‘México nunca duerme’ (1958), ‘Senda prohibida’ (1959) and ‘El proceso de las señoritas Vivanco’ (1959), ‘La hermana’ (1960), ‘El señor doctor’ (1965).
