After taking a degree in Medicine and Surgery at Santiago de Compostela University, she specialised in Family and Communitary Medicine. She got a diploma on Advanced Studies on Clinic Medicine and Research Works at A Coruña University as well as a diploma on Health issued by the National Health College. She attended a Master in Geriatry (Faculty of Medicine - Santiago de Compostela University) and Drug Addiction and AIDS (College of Doctors and Research Institute on Social Sciences).
She has published many articles and research works as well as several reports of national and international conferences on Medicine. She has coordinated and given several courses on volunteer training. She was awarded several prizes and enjoyed research scholarships.
She is the president of 'Ancianos del Mundo' Non-governmental Organization and member of the Medical and Surgical Academy of Lugo, the Galician Society of Gerontology and Geriatry and the Foundation of the Research and Development of Primary Care.
