He was an artillery colonel but nowadays he is retired. From 1959 to 1963, he was Mayor in Ferrol and a deputy in representation of the villages in the province of A Coruña. From 1963 to 1970, he filled the office of Civil Governor in Ourense. From 1949 to 1959, he was delegate of the newspaper El Correo Gallego in Santiago. From 1950 to 1963, he also directed the radio station 'La Voz de Ferrol' and published many articles in magazines and newspapers. He was delegate of the old newspaper 'Ferrol Diario'. While he was Major in Ferrol, work began on 'As Pías' Bridge and water supply in the city, the railway section from Costa de Mera to Ferrol was opened and he founded the 'Mancomunidad del Ayuntamiento de la Ría Ferrolana' and drafted the first plan of urban development. In Ourense, he supported the creation of cooperative societies and 'San Ciprián' Industrial Estate. He also paid a special attention to the problems caused by emigration in that province.
