He took a degree in Agronomy in 1971 and a doctor’s degree in 1980. He was a Professor at the Polytechnical University of Madrid (1975-1988) and Santiago University (1988-1992). He was a Professor at Santiago University since 1992 and filled several offices in private companies until 1975. He directed the Agronomy School and filled the office of vice-rector of Santiago University (1994-2002) and director general of the ‘Consellería de Medio Ambiente da Xunta de Galicia’ (2003-2005).
As an agriculturalist, he set up irrigations and cattle farms in the North-West of Algeria (1972-73). He also drew up several projects on Agronomy and Forestry and participated in work operations. He is the author of several articles and books related to research works on Agronomy and Forestry, mainly those related to the application of electric energy in cattle farms, as well as studies on the light influence on some cattle species and dung pollution.
He created the Research Institute on Rural Development and Biodiversity (Santiago de Compostela University) and prepared several lands for research activities.
