She filled several offices at the Galician Health Service until 1998. She was manager of Primary Health Care from 1987 to 1991, deputy director of Health Care Inspection from 1992 to 1994 and deputy director of Specialized Health Care from 1994 until 1998.

From 1999 to 2001, she worked as an adviser for the ‘Dirección Xeral de Salud Pública’ (Xunta de Galicia). In July 2002 she was appointed manager of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza Hospital until 2009.

On 1st May 2009 she was appointed manager of the Galician Health Service. She filled this office until she became conselleira responsible for Health.
