After studying Secondary Education in Monforte, he studied Law at Santiago University. Then he moved to Madrid and worked as an articled clerk in the office of Pi y Margall until 1901. He practised as a jurist in Galicia and Asturias and magistrate in Leon. In 1931 he was nominated as attorney-general in the Republic.

 Work & Activities

Francisco Javier Elola published many juridical works in specialised magazines and was the author of Proyecto de Ley orgánica de los tribunales de justicia ordinaria, Bases para una novísima organización de lo contencioso administrativo and Bases para la creación jurisdiccional del control de inconstitucionalidad de las leyes.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He was a member of the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, member of the Advisory Juridical Committee of the Government, Spanish representantive member in the Conferences of International Criminal Law of Brussels (1926) and Bucarest (1929) and magistrate of the High Court.
