He established himself in Galicia when he opened a salted fish factory in San Pedro de La Ramallosa (Nigrán, Pontevedra). He was mayor of Baiona and lived General Iriarte’s military uprising (October, 1843) in favour of Espartero. Iriarte sent troops to Baiona to take the fortress of Monte Real. In 1843, Casimiro Fernández de la Cigoña sent a letter to the Queen complaining of the administrative modifications which changed the regional division for the Justice Administration in 1823. The jurisdiction of Baiona was reduced to the parishes of Baiña, Baredo, Belesar, Baiona and Santa Cristina de la Ramallosa. He was also mayor in Vigo (1852-53, 1854-57, 1863, 1864 and 1865). In 1866, he was part of Lafuente’s corporation.
