After studying Secondary Education in the Seminary of Lugo (1969-75) and GCE A-level at ‘Lucus Augusti’ Secondary School (1975-76), he graduated in Teaching (Philology section) in Lugo (1976-79) and in Hispanic Philology and the Open University in Madrid (1982-88). Besides, he attended many courses and conferences such as ‘Dislexia y fracaso escolar’, ‘Perfeccionamiento de Lengua Francesa’, ‘Utilización Didáctica de los Medios Audiovisuales e Iniciación a la Tecnología’, video (1991), ‘Utilización Didáctica de los Medios Audiovisuales e Iniciación a la Tecnología’, video (1992), ‘Primeras Jornadas de Educación y Formación Vía Satélite – EEOS’, ‘III Curso de Tecnología Educativa: Informática y Vídeo’, ‘Especialidade de Lingua Galega’, ‘IV Curso de Tecnología Educativa: vídeo’, ‘De la teoría del texto a la práctica de la enseñanza de la lengua’, ‘Informática Básica’, ‘Nuevas Tecnologías de la Información: Aplicaciones didácticas’, ‘Microsoft Access’, ‘La Ley de Calidad a debate’ and ‘Internet aplicada a la educación: nivel intermedio’. As far as his labour experience is concerned, he worked as a teacher at the County Council and school in Lugo, in Porto do Son (A Coruña), director and coordinator of the Resource Centre of Noia (A Coruña), at the Primary School of Cospeito (Lugo), at ‘A Nosa Señora dos Ollos Grandes’ Secondary School (Lugo), at ‘Ánxel Fole’ Secondary School (Lugo), Primary Schools of Baralla and San Xiao, Fontexería Secondary School (Muros) and head of the Galician Language and Literature Department at ‘Tino Grandío’ School in Guntín – Lugo.
As a writer, he is a joint author of several audiovisual works such as ‘Arqueoloxía do Barbanza’ (he was awarded the first prize at ‘Vídeo en la Escuela’ Second Galician Contest in 1994) and coordinated ‘O Cabazo’, the magazine of the Primary School of Cospeito during the school year 1995-96, ‘A Voz da Escola’, the magazine of the Primary School of Pobra de San Xiao during the school year 1998-99 and ‘Pallares’, the magazine of ‘Tino Grandío’ School in Guntín (Lugo) during the school year 2000 - 2003 (this magazine was awarded the First Galician Prize for School Magazines in 2001- 2002). Besides, he wrote ‘Toponimia de Monterroso’, published by the City Council of Monterroso (2002) and ‘Toponimia de Guntín de Pallares’, also published by the City Council of Guntín. He usually collaborates in the local press writing about historical matters related to Pallares and Monterroso. Nowadays, he is working on a book about Ferreira de Pallares Monastery.

 Work & Activities

He coordinated ‘Radio Escolar’ in Galicia during the school year in 1994-95, responsible for the linguistic normalization campaign ‘Entre nós, en galego’ in 2001- 2002, coordinated the research and educative innovation project ‘Os medios audiovisuais: unha fiestra aberta ó ensino da Lingua e Literatura na Educación Secundaria Obrigatoria’, he collaborated as a rapporteur in the activity ‘Utilización didáctica dos Medios Audiovisuais e iniciación á Tecnoloxía Vídeo’ and in several activities related to Galician language. He also founded the Galician Carol Contest (‘Concurso Galego de Panxoliñas’), Noia (1992) and the ‘Asociación de Amigos do Mosteiro de Ferreira de Pallares’. Carlos Vázquez has also participated as an evaluator in several editions of the ‘Concurso Galego de Panxoliñas’ and ‘Entre nós, en Galego’ music contest.
