He took a doctor's degree in Information Sciences at the Autonomous University in Barcelona. In 1996, he became a Professor of Audio-visual Communication and Advertising at Santiago University. From 1993 to 2000, he filled the office of vice-dean in the Faculty of Information Sciences. From 1990 to 1993, he directed the radio station 'Antena 3' in Santiago. He was the editor of the newspapers La Voz de Galicia (19798-93) and A Nosa Terra (1977-79).
