After taking a degree in Galician Philology, Xosé Antón López Dobao began to work as a linguistic advisor on Galician TV. He is also the director and scriptwriter of audiovisual fiction.

NARRATIVE: He has published two tales: O home do gabán, in the magazine ‘Dorna’ (Nº 8, 1985) and Tren de noite, in the collective volume Liñas para lelas (Grándola Nova Edicións y Produccións Audiovisuais, 1998). Now he is preparing a tale volume.
ESSAY: He has published philological, sociolinguistical and sociopolitical essays in the magazine ‘A Trabe de Ouro’.
TRANSLATIONS: He has published literary translations of the following authors: George Orwell: A granxa dos animais (Animal Farm), Antoni Marí: O vaso de prata (El vas de plata), J. D. Salinger: Nove Contos (Nine Stories), Carles Bellsolà: Ferros e Ameixas (Ferros i prunes), poetry and Paul Auster: Mr. Vertigo.
AUDIOVISUAL: He is the director of Un Mundo de Historias (a serial on Galician TV based on tales of Galician Literature -http://www.culturagalega.org/cine/0302/cinevision19.htm). He also coordinated and wrote scripts of two episodes: ‘O Retrato’ (based on the tale written by Castelao) and ‘Licor-café’ (based on the tale written by X.L. Méndez Ferrín). Now he is preparing a second project on the same line.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He is on the editorial staff of the magazines ‘A Trabe de Ouro’ and ‘Cadernos de Lingua’ and coordinates ‘Suxeito Activo’ (magazine of Escarlata Nets). He has published articles in several Galician newspapers. Nowadays he collaborates with ‘Vieiros’ (www.vieiros.com) with a section titled ‘República da Multitude’.
