She graduated in Architecture at the Autonomous University of Ciudad de Mexico, where she met the Mexican architect Luis Barragán (he was awarded Pritzker Architecture Prize). She took her doctor’s degree in the Architecture School of A Coruña, where she presented her doctoral thesis El Color en Arquitectura, which was directed by the architect César Portela Fernández-Jardón. She collaborated in the studio of the architect César Portela Fernández-Jardón (he was awarded the National Architecture Prize in Spain) for six years. She worked as the architect of the City Council of Marín for two years. In 1990, she founded the Teresa Táboas Architecture Studio that has carried out many building and town-planning projects. He filled the following offices: president of the Association of Architects in Pontevedra (1999 - 2003), member of the board of directors of the Galician Association of Architects, president of the Galician Association of Architects, member of the Council of Spanish Architects, representative member of the Council of Spanish Architects before the Council of European Architects in Brussels in two commissions supporting the European Parliament: Taskforce for Urban Issues and Taskforce for Environment and Sustainable Architecture. From 2005 to 2009, she was the 'Conselleira de Vivenda' in the Xunta de Galicia.

 Work & Activities

She has published the following books: El Color en Arquitectura (1991, Edicións do Castro) and Emigración y Arquitectura (1999, County Council of Pontevedra). Besides, she usually collaborates with articles in several newspapers and specialised magazines. As a result of her participation in several contests, she was awarded the first prize for the Aquaculture Centre in Arousa (Pontevedra), first prize in the contest for the repairing of Barcelos Square (Pontevedra), first prize in the contest for widening Liceo Casino Park in Pontevedra , second prize in the contest for building the library in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Campus of Santiago), first prize in the contest for building twenty-seven council houses in Pereiro de Aguiar (Ourense), first prize I the contest for building a shopping centre in Pereiro de Aguiar (Ourense), second prize for building a day nursery in Pereiro de Aguiar (Ourense). Besides, she has been invited as a member of the panel in many Architecture contests and has been a member of the panel of the National Architecture Prize in Spain in 2003.

 Other Interesting Aspects

She has collaborated as a rapporteur in several institutions and universities such as the Seminar on Latin American Architecture, celebrated in Seville in the fifth centenary of the discovery of America, ‘El Color en Arquitectura’ at the Galician Technological Institute, ‘La Arquitectura de Luis Barragán’ at the Architecture College of San Sebastian, Architecture College (Anáhuac University - Mexico), VI World Colour Conference (1989) organised by the World Colour Society (she participated with a report titled ‘The Colour in Architecture’), Menéndez Pelayo International University 1999: ‘Bordes de Cascos Históricos’ and Menéndez Pelayo International University 2002: ‘Seminario y Naturaleza’.
