-Degree in Hispanic Philology at Santiago University (1985). -Doctor's degree in Hispanic Philology at Santiago University (1991). -Professor of the area of Galician and Portuguese Philology at Santiago University. -Member of the Scientific Council of the Galician Language Institute. -Since November 1999 he has been directing the department of Galician Philology at Santiago University.

He is also the secretary of the editorial staff of the magazine 'Verba' (Galician Yearbook about Philology).
