Curriculum

He studied at the Seminary in Tui (1951-56) and took a degree in Theology at the Gregorian University of Rome (1597-61) and in Holy Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome (1961-64). He was ordained as a priest on 19th March 1961 and became bishop of Zaragoza on 21st February 1982 and bishop of Calahorra and La Calzada-Logroño on 20th October 1989. Within the Spanish Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Episcopal Commission of Teaching and Catechesis and the Episcopal Commision of Seminaries and Universities.
