 Curriculum

He served in Italy with Felipe IV's son and was awarded the title 'the Conquest Duke'. The King Felipe V nominated him as viceroy of Mexico. The ship, in which he was travelling to Mexico, was captured by the English, and Pedro dropped his letter of credence into the sea not to be recognised. When he landed in Mexico, the Royal Court of the New Spain did not want to recognise him as viceroy. The archbishop of Mexico, Vizarrón, solved the problem. He especially defended the ports of the viceroyalty from the English attacks.
