He has been a professional photographer since 1993 and started his career at Europa Press Agency and then went on with Cover Agency, El Mundo and Interviú. Since 2003 he has devoted himself to the International France Presse and has recently combined this activity with multimedia production for TV and other information channels in collaboration with www.calamar2.com.

Since he started his career, he has collaborated with different organizations developing documentation works, exhibitions and technical reports.

Throughout his career, he has made photographic works for different companies and several media.

Together with Susana Hidalgo, he is a foundation member of ‘Calmar2’, the digital magazines specialized in environmental social aspects.

 

2003 and 2006: Tiflos Photojournalism Prize (report).

2008: “Emergencias 112” Second Prize for the coverage of the fires that destroyed the Iberian Peninsula in 2009.

2010: “La supervivencia del mar”, Luis Ksado Photography Contest (second prize)

2010: “La supervivencia del Mar”, exhibition at the European Parliament, Brussels.

2010: “Detrás del objetivo”, first incursion in documentary. This visual documentary shows the desperation of neighbours and the effort of the members working in the extinction of the forest fires that destroyed Galicia.

2011: Winner of "A imaxe de Galicia", Galician Journalists Association.

2011: book: “Plaza Tomada”.

2012: “Batefuegos de Oro” Prize (written press, video and web)

2012: Exhibition and second edition of “Plaza Tomada”, Photon festival (Valencia)

2013: Honourable mention in the environment category (Pictures of the year POY Latam).

2013: Second prize in news of Estacao-Imagem Photojournalism Contest and third in environment.

2013: Susana Hidalgo and Pedro Armestre form ‘Calamar2’ and have been awarded ‘Manos Unidas’ Journalism Prize for the report titled “Amina, la única mujer del Gurugú”.

2013: Included in the Fujifilm X-photographers.

2014: Photograph of the year 2013. Foto Nikon first prize.

2014: “Toda una vida para mejorar” Journalism Prize for “Rostros por la Salud Mental”.

2014: First prize of the Pictures of the Year International POYi (Category: Science & Natural history picture story)
