She studied in Madrid. When she was still a girl, she felt a great passion for art. She travelled a lot and she reflected her experiences in painting, literature, music and poetry. She was an autodidact and painted her first pictures in the studio of the Argentinean painter Rafael Usandivaras.

 Work & Activities

She carried out individual exhibitions in the Gallery of the City Council of A Coruña (1972), 'Círculo de las Artes' in Lugo (1974), the gallery of the bank firm 'Caja de Ahorros de Galicia' in A Coruña (1979) and the Casino in Viveiro - Lugo (1983 and 1998). Shortly after, she participated in several collective exhibitions in Madrid, A Coruña, Ferrol and Viveiro (Lugo). As far as literature is concerned, Maruxa is keen on popular poems, stories (both for children and adults) and social chronicles. She collaborates in the newspaper El Ideal Gallego every day with the section 'Las Cosas de Maruxa', in the newspaper El Correo Gallego with recipes and a weekly page titled 'Personas y Cosas', interviews and social chronicles in El Heraldo de Viveiro, etc. These are some of her most important works: Las memorias de una bizca ('Vieira de humor' Prize), the collection of stories for children Y Colorín (bilingual book, Castilian-Galician), the narrative books Os contos de Xoaquín ('Do Castro' Publications) and As veladas con Xoaquín and the book for children Las Cinco Amigas ('Everest' Publications). She has recently published the book Personas y cosas de La Coruña y su entorno and wrote three poetry books that are still unpublished: Mujer en vela (bilingual, Castilian-Galician), Deixa que o tempo envolva os soños (Galician) and Experiencias (Galician). Besides, he is preparing a cookery book titled Menú del Día and another one about social chronicles. Both of them pick up respectively the daily recipes and the section 'Personas y Cosas' published in the newspaper El Correo Gallego.
