She has been living in Vigo since her adolescence. She took a degree in Journalism and Public Relations and worked in El Pueblo Gallego, La Voz de Galicia, El País and Radio Popular in Vigo from 1972 to 1984. In 1984, she began to work as head of press and public relations office at the City Council of Vigo. From 1999 to July 2001, she was the manager director of "Información y Comunicación Local, S.A." in Santiago. She was city councillor of the PSdeG-PSOE and deputy mayor in the City Council of Vigo from 1987 to 1991 and from 2003 to 2006. She was deputy in the Galician Parliament during the third and fourth sessions (1980/1997). From 1991 to 1994 she was on the executive committee of the PsdeG and has been secretary of cultura since March 2012. She was on the first board of directors of Galician TV and created and directed "Información y Comunicación Local, SA" promoting the European capital of culture status in 2000. She was deputy in the Spanish Congress, representing Pontevedra, from 2004 to October 2007, member of the parliamentary assemblies of the European Council and the Western European Union and first delegate of the Xunta de Galicia abroad (Argentina and Uruguay, 2007/2009). She directed the Railway Museum and the Communication and Corporate Development Department of the Spanish Railway Foundation until November 2011. It was then that she returned to her job as advisor of the mayor of Vigo.

She has published the following books: "Quen é quen no primeiro Parlamento Galego", Edicións Xerais (1981); "Celso Emilio Ferreiro, compañeiro do vento e das estrelas", Editorial Akal (1981); "Covardes", Editorial Ir Indo (2000); "A comunicación en Galicia" (several authors), Council for Galician Culture (1999);  "El puente siempre se queda" (several authors), Ed. Grupo Puentes (2011) and "Vine, vi... y hablé. Las mujeres frente al discurso público", Auga editora (2012).

 Other Interesting Aspects

She was a member of the commission of the Council for Galician Culture, coordinator of tourism in "Eixo Atlántico" and member of the board of Xornal Diario. She is a member of the Galician Association of Journalists, the Association of Writers in Galician Language and official electoral observer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She usually collaborates in radio stations (Cadena SER, Radio Galega) and newspapers (La Voz de Galicia, Xornal Diario, Galicia Confidencial). She is a member of the board of directors of IGADI. In July 2009, the Spanish Government awarded her the Command to the Civil Merit for her contribution to the Spanish foreign policy.
