Coming from a humble family, economical troubles and the beginning of the Spanish Civil Work make her family move to Boiro, where María got in touch with literature. After a stay in the Basque Country, she returned to Boiro, where she met the teacher Roberto Posse Carballido, who she married in 1939. Some years later, they moved to Parada do Courel, where María met important Galician intellectuals such as Manuel María, Uxío Novoneira, Ramón Piñeiro, Augusto Assía, García-Sabell and Sixto Seco, among others.
She only wrote two poetry books: ‘Palabra no Tempo’ (1963), prologued by Otero Pedrayo and illustrated by Reimundo Patiño and ‘Verba que comeza’, published posthumously.
The Galician Academy dedicates her the Day of the Galician Letters in 2007.
