He took a doctor’s degree in Economics and Business Studies at the University of Santiago (1982-1997; doctoral thesis: ‘A Política Económica da Xunta de Galicia’) and enjoyed a scholarship of the national Industry Institute in IBERIA (Spanish Airlines) at the Human Resources Department (Madrid). He taught Administrative and Commercial Technology in several Galician Secondary Schools. Nowadays, he is a Professor of Economic Policy (Applied Economy Department) at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
He wrote ‘A política económica da Xunta de Galicia (1982-1997). Economía e autogoberno’, A Nosa Terra (January 2005) and many articles. Since 1993, he has been collaborating every week in the economy section of ‘A Nosa Terra’ and collaborates on several occasions in newspapers (Diario 16, La Voz de Galicia, El Correo Gallego, La Región) and magazines (Revista Galega de Economía, Análise Empresarial, Galicia Internacional, Tempos Novos, A Trabe de Ouro and Enclave).
His studies focus mainly in the economic policies of the Autonomous Regions. He presented his work as a thesis and is the first work that analyses the economic policy of an Autonomous Region, using new theoretical approaches such as the new institutional economy.
He was on the editorial staff of ‘Revista Gallega de Economía’ and ‘Revista Gallega de Política y Pensamiento Enclave’.
