He took a degree in Geography and History, specialising in Modern and Contemporary Art at Santiago de Compostela University in 1985. He worked at ‘San Rosendo’ School in Ferrol (A Coruña) during the school year 1988-89 and ‘Dionisio Gamallo Fierros’ Secondary School from 1989 to 2001. On 16th April 2001, he took up his post as director of the Foundation for the development of the Central ‘Mariña’ in Mondoñedo.
He was a town councillor of the Popular Party in Ribadeo from 1991 to 1995, deputy mayor and town councillor responsible for Culture, Education, Youth, Sports and Social Services in the City Council of Ribadeo from 1995 to 1999 and from 1999 to 2003. Nowadays he is the general secretary of the Popular Party in Ribadeo.
He is the vicepresident of the association ‘Amigos del Camino Norte de Santiago’.
