He was trained with Casas Novoa, whom he then succeeded in the post of master builder at Santiago's cathedral. When he was still very young, he directed the works at Nuestra Señora de los Ojos Grandes Chapel and St Roque's Chapel in Lugo. Fernando de Casas died in 1749 and Lucas Ferro Caaveiro got the post of master builder at the cathedral.

 Work & Activities

In addition to the works carried out in Lugo, Ferro Caaveiro carried out works at the Monastery of San Paio de Antealtares. In 1754, he began to direct the works at Angustias Chapel, in Santiago, where he worked until they were over eleven years later. He also projected the Azabachería façade in Santiago's Cathedral.
