He studied Secondary Education in Lugo and took a degree in Philosophy at the Pontifical University of Salamanca. Then he attended doctorate courses at Santiago de Compostela University. He worked as a temporary teacher at the Secondary School of Viveiro (Lugo) during the school year 1971-72 and filled the office of secretary at 'Xoán Montes' Secondary School in Lugo (1972-77). Since 1977, he has taught Philosophy at 'Lucus Augusti' Secondary School. He has been a member of the socialist party since 1975 in Lugo. Nowadays, he is Mayor in Lugo and member of the Galician executive of the socialist party. He filled the following offices: delegate of the 'Consellería de Cultura y Deportes' (1987-91), member of the advisory board of TVE-Galicia (1990-95) and member of the federal council and executive commission of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.

 Work & Activities

He wrote the following books: Homenaje a Ortega in collaboration with other Philosophy teachers from Lugo on the occasion of the centenary of Ortega's birth and El empleo: reto del momento in the 14th edition of the Galician Philosophy Week (1977). He has collaborated in the newspapers El Progreso and La Voz de Galicia with themes related to Politics and Philosophy.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He has been a member of FETE-UGT since 1981. He likes photography (he got several prizes), walking, music and reading.
