He studied Music, Declamation and Drama as well as Social Work, Teaching and Industrial Relations at the University of Alcalá de Henares. He collaborated as a literary critic in ‘Radio Nacional’ in A Coruña and directed the programme ‘A escena e a pantalla’ in ‘Radio Corña EAJ-41’. Under several pseudonyms, he published many articles, book and show criticism in the newspaper La Voz de Galicia. He collaborated in the weekly paper ‘A Nosa Terra’ and the newspaper ‘O Correo Galego’. He also promoted the theatre groups ‘O Facho’ (1965), ‘Escola Dramática Galega’ (1978), ‘Luis Seoane’ (1980) and ‘Elsinor Teatro’ (1990) and was the president of the Galician Drama School for several years. Besides, he directed the Department of Theatre Studies.

He is joint author of the following books: Textos para o ensino do galego, O teatro galego (with M. Lourenzo), Antoloxía do teatro galego (with M. Lourenzo), Diccionario do teatro galego 1671-1985 (with Miguel Anxo Fernán-Vello), A nación incesante. Conversas con Xosé Manuel Beiras (with Miguel Anxo Fernán-Vello).  Other Interesting Aspects

In 1989, he was awarded Criticism Prize as editor of ‘Cadernos da Escola Dramática Galega’. He collaborated in the radio station ‘Radio Nacional de España’ in A Coruña staging the works Pancho de Rábade, by Álvaro das Casas and A Arbre, by R. Carvalho Calero. In 1993, he was awarded the honourable Compostela Prize for ‘Cadernos da Escola Dramática Galega’. In 1996, he donated his library to A Coruña University, the so-called ‘Biblioteca Archivo de Teatro Francisco Pillado Mayor’. He was nominated as honourable president of this library and is a member of the Scientific Council of books promoted by this institution.
