He studied Teaching and devoted himself to teaching during his life. Just as his brother Antonio, he worried about all that had something to do with Galicia. He founded the newspaper Diario de Galicia and the group Folklore Gallego, directed by Emilia Pardo Bazán.

Francisco de la Iglesia collaborated in the magazine Galicia. Revista universal de este reino. As poet, he published many poems in the newspapers of the moment.
