Francisco Castro was known as ‘the Galician Churriguera’. He first lived in Melide and since 1696 he lived in Ourense, where he carried out several works in the cathedral, St Domingo Convent and St Francisco Convent. He also made an altarpiece for the chancel of St Domingo Convent in Ribadavia although only a few remains are preserved. His art is also present at St Salvador Convent in Celanova and Tui’s cathedral.
