She took part in the cultural movement of that time and often collaborated in newspapers of the moment such as in El Heraldo Gallego. As she became very famous because of her poetry, he got many prizes in different contests in and out Galicia.
Filomena Dato published five poetry books: La Letanía Lauretana (1878), Penumbras (1880), Romances y Cantares (1885), Fe (1911) and Follatos (1891). This last book was written in Galician language and contained the poem titled Defensa das mulleres, which got three prizes in 1887.
