After studying Primary and Secondary Education, he studied Teaching and also became a mercantile teacher in the Business School of A Coruña. In 1946 he took a degree in Law at Santiago University and two years later he entered the body of notaries, working in Ayorbe (Huesca), Puentes de García Rodríguez, Cartagena, Vigo, Bilbao and Madrid. In 1949 he began to work as a recorder of deeds in Sedano (Burgos), Ponte Caldelas, A Coruña, Palma de Mallorca and Madrid. In 1982 he was elected deputy in A Coruña during the second session (Foreign Affairs and Justice) and four years later deputy of the European Parliament (Development and Cooperation). In 2003, when he was eighty, he took his doctor’s degree in Law.
He published Semblanzas personales de Notarios y Registradores de la Propiedad in ‘Gaceta de los Notarios’ and ‘Pausa’, some works in the Bulletin of the Association of Recorders of Deeds and articles in different newspapers about Latin America, Galician Language and St James.
He married Lucía de la Colina Unda and has eight children and twenty grandchildren. He is very keen on sport (football, tennis, hockey, swimming, sailing, golf and basketball), music, travelling and Galician history.
