He took a degree in Geography and History (1992) and a doctor’s degree in History (2001) at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
 
He has been a scientist of the the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas - CSIC) and member of the Instituto de Ciencias del Patrimonio (Incipit) since 2006.
 
His research lines verse on landscape archaeology, analysis of social and cultural dynamics in prehistory, territorial analysis, and application of geospatial technologies for archaeology and cultural heritage.
 
He has participated in over thirty research projects of official programmes and contracts of applied research and technological services with companies and public institutions, as for example: “Metodología integral para a presentación formal do Patrimonio Cultural” (R & D Galician Plan); “Programa de Investigación en Tecnologías para la conservación y revalorizacion del Patrimonio Cultural” (Consolider-Ingenio Programme 2010, Ministry of Science and Technology) and “El Paisaje Arqueológico de las Tierras Bajas. Un modelo de gestión integral Patrimonio Arqueológico” (Fine Arts Department – Ministry of Culture).
 
Today he is the main researcher of the followin projects: “Definición de un modelo para la representación de aspectos espaciales del Patrimonio Cultural” (financed by the R & D National Plan, 2008-2011) and “Atlas das Paisaxes Culturais de Galicia” (financed by the R & D Galician Plan, Sectorial programmes of applied research).
 
He is the author or joint author of over fifty books and scientific and technical documents, as for example: “Iron Age societies against the State”, published in 2010  in Atlantic Europe in the first millennium BC: crossing the divide and “Looking forward in anger: Social and Political transformations in the Iron Age of the north-western Iberian peninsula”, published in 2007 in European Journal of Archaeology.
