He took a degree in Psychology at the University of Santiago de Compostela and a doctor’s degree in Psychopedagogy at the University of A Coruña. He worked as a Professor of Education Psychology at the University of Oviedo from 1989 to 1991. Nowadays he is a Professor of Education Psychology and head of the Department of Evolutionary  and Education Psychology at the University of A Coruña. He was the founder of the Galician Association of Psychopedagogy and editor of Revista Galega de Psicopedagoxía. He was on the editorial staff of several scientific magazines and associate editor of Revista Iberoamericana de Psicología y Salud. He is the author of many national and international scientific publications about education psychology (academic motivation, learning strategies and influence on the student’s learning).
