He took a degree in Geography and History in 1993, specialising in Modern History, and his doctor’s degree in 2001 at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He was invited as a visitor researcher by the Institute of Social Sciences (Lisbon University) in the year 2000 and as a postdoctoral fellow by the Scottish History Department (Edinburgh University) in 2002. He participated in international conferences in Bruges (Belgium), Lisbon (Portugal) and Berlin (Germany). After working at the University of Santiago de Compostela (1995-2000), he entered ‘'Padre Sarmiento' Institute of Galician Studies to work as a scientist in 2002.

 Work & Activities

He is the author of Os devanceiros dos pazos (Santiago, Sotelo Blanco, 1997) and A Filoloxía Galega ante a crise do antigo réxime, 1812-1868 (Santiago, 3C3). He has published about fifty research works (chapters of collective books and specialised articles in Galician, Spanish and Portuguese magazines) and divulgation works, mainly bibliographic reviews.

 Other Interesting Aspects

His research studies focus on Galician Philology since its origins in the 16th century until its social, economical and identity crisis in the second half of the 19th century. In 1996, he was awarded the third edition of Vicente Risco Anthropology and Social Sciences Prize.
