He works as a teacher of Primary Education and first cycle of Secondary Education. He collaborated in the literary and pedagogical pages of the most important newspapers and magazines in Galicia. He is a critic and expert on children’s literature and gives courses on reading promotion, literary creation, poetry workshops and lectures. He has participated in didactic and literary conferences, promoted by several institutions and directed a very important literary collection for young people for eight years. He wrote text books and was a member of the jury in several important literary prizes for children. He has translated into Galician several literary works for children and young. Nowadays, he codirects the radio programme 'Os sons do silencio'.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He was awarded Merlín Prize in 1996 with his work Na fogueira dos versos and was finalist of the National Prize in 1997. One year later, he was awarded Pier Paolo Vergerio European Prize, promoted by the University of Padua. His book Versos de auga, titled in Galician Cacarabín, Cacarabón, was selected among the most important hundred books of the 20th century in the 6th Symposium on Children’s Literature and Reading and his book Trala liña do horizonte was chosen as an associated book in the Forum of Barcelona 2004. Besides, his poems are present in many anthologies written both in Galician and Castilian and some of them were set to music by several Galician groups.
