He studied in Madrid with the Italian painter Lucas Jordán. In 1799, when he came back to Galicia, he was nominated as the official painter of the cathedral.
In 1747, he painted the Obradoiro façade together with other painters. He also worked in other Galician churches and chapels such as the Rosario Chapel in Santo Domingo, San Martín Pinario, Hospital Real, etc. Besides, he gilded St James's bordón and head as well as the sceptres of the Kings. His most important works can be found in the vestry of the cathedral. La Virgen is his most important painting and is preserved at St Domingo Convent in Compostela. He is also the author of a painting of St James in the altar of Don Lope Chapel and a portrait of King Fernando VI.
