After studying Primary Education at ‘Ibáñez Martín’ School and Secondary Education at ‘Concepción Arenal’ in Ferrol, where he was awarded two literary prizes for his love for poetry, he moved to Salamanca and studied English Philology. There, he participated in small literary magazines for students and found out his passion for North American literature. After taking his degree in 1986, he moved to Barcelona and then taught English in Santiago, Ferrol, Monforte, Pontevedra and Poio, where he is living at the moment. He participated in ‘Berenguela’ (a theatre group), performing one of his works and another one written by Manuel María in many neighbour associations and cultural centres.
He was awarded ‘Torrente Ballester’ Prize for his book As humanas proporcións (Galaxia, 2004). He usually collaborated in ‘Nordesía’, the supplement of Diario de Ferrol and is preparing a new novel.
Auster, Capote, Cunqueiro, García Márquez, Saramago, Asturias, Onetti, Cortázar, Imre Kertész and Unai Elorriaga are some of his favourite writers.
