He took a doctor’s degree in Law at Santiago University, where he practised as a Professor. In spite of going blind when he was twenty-seven, he went on developing an intense activity as a writer. He collaborated in the newspaper El Eco de Galicia, in which he published many articles and the work Foros y subforos de Galicia in the newspaper La Esperanza. He was also the editor of ‘Diálogos en la Alameda de Santiago’ and ‘Tertulia de Picaños’.
These are some of his most important works: Diego e Cristobo; Díalogo entre Silvestre Cajarabille e Domingo Magariños, labradores e veciños nas suas respeutivas parroquias; Uno de tantos; Tristes recuerdos del señor don Vicente Turnes...; A inauguración do Liceo artístico e literario da Cruña; Composición poética dedicada a Galicia en su propio dialecto, etc.
After his death, his poems were published in the brochure Composiciones poéticas (1875).
