He studied Primary and Secondary Education in the Seminary of Lugo and Biology at the University College. He had not finished Biology and decided to study Veterinary Medicine in León. He took his degree in 1986 and specialized in Animal Production and Economy.
He practised as clinic veterinary surgeon in Pedrafita, Cervantes, O Courel, As Nogais, Triacastela and Veiga de Valcarce in León.
In 1989, he got married and was appointed as a vet to A Fonsagrada. His son, Andrés, was born in 1990.
Since he entered the Veterinary Corps of the Xunta de Galicia in 1994, he was the head of the Veterinary Services of Public Health in Lugo, Veterinary Inspector, responsible for the ‘Consellería de Medio Rural’ in Lugo and Government subdelegate in Lugo since February 2012.
As for his political activity, he was town councillor and member of the Partido Popular in Pedrafita and A Fonsagrada. He was also deputy in the Galician Parliament and was president of the Fishing Commission, member of the Agriculture and European Matters Commissions and rapporteur of the Emigration Commission. From 2007 to 2010, he was town councillor in A Fonsagrada again. Nowadays, he is a member of the executive committee of the Partido Popular and responsible for the rural matters.
