He studied Philosophy and Arts in Santiago de Compostela and started his journalistic activity in 1940, collaborating in the newspapers El Español, La Estafeta Literaria, Madrid and the magazine Fantasía. Besides, he edited La Noche, the most important literary newspaper in Galicia, where he published his famous ’Anacos’, which were articles about varied subjects based on everyday life. In 1960, he was nominated editor of El Correo Gallego and then he moved to Madrid as an assistant editor of the economical newspaper 3 E. He was also editor-in-chief and responsible for Documentation at the Efe Agency until he retired.

 Work & Activities

Borobó wrote many articles, comedies, narrations and scripts for cinema such as Xoán Porreás, Tina and La Piñeira, as well as a biography of La Bella Otero. Besides, he wrote the following books: Fantasma de Valle Inclán, Libro de tropiezos, Raíz mágica del primero de mayo, Primeiros anacos santiagueses, Pablo Iglesias, el gallego and Xan Pernas el burlador de diablos.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He was a member of the Galician Academy and was awarded ‘Julio Camba’ Journalism Prize and ‘Pedrón de Ouro’ Prize.
