He is a teacher of Galician language and literature, writes poetry and collaborates as a literary critic and translator in several magazines and newspapers. He is on the ‘Batallón Literario da Costa da Morte’, on the editorial staff of ‘Dorna’ and on the editorial council of ‘Ablativo Absoluto’, Edicións Xerais de Galicia.

 Work & Activities

He wrote the following poetry books: ‘Ausencias pretéritas’, Espiral Maior (1992), ‘42 décimas de febre’, Toxosoutos (1994), ‘Abecedario da desolación’, Espiral Maior (1997; Tivoli Europe Prize 1998) and ‘Equinoccio de primavera’, Esquío (1998; finalist of Tivoli Europe Prize 1999). His texts have been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Russian, Albanian and languages of Serbia and Croatia in the volume ‘Il cammino di Santiago. La giovane poesia d'europa nel 1997’ (Melteni, 1998). His poems are also present in many literary magazines and in ‘Ao mar de adentro’ (1989) and ‘A rota dos baleeiros’ (Edicións do Dragón, 1991), as well as in the anthologies: ‘Para saír do século’, Xerais (1997), ‘Río de son e vento’, Xerais (1999), ‘dEfecto 2000’, Letras de Cal (1999), ‘A tribo das baleas’, Xerais (2001) and in the collective books: ‘Nós. Batallón Literario da Costa da Morte’, Corcubión City Council (1997), ‘Mar por medio’, Corcubión City Council (1998), ‘Ourense, craro río, verde val’, Ourense City Council (2001) and ‘47 poetas de hoxe cantan a Curros Enríquez’, Xerais (2001).
In 1985 and 1987, he was awarded ‘Modesto R. Figueiredo’ Short Story Prize (‘Pedrón de Ouro’ Patronage) for ‘Augas de silencio’ and ‘Verbas cruzadas con Amaranta’, Edicións do Castro (1987/1988) and ‘Curuxa Literaria’ (Humour Museum of Fene). He has also published literature for children: ‘Carlota, a marmota’, Xerais (2000).
As for essay, he participated as a rapporteur in many literary conferences and published several critic or commented editions such as ‘Antoloxía poética’ by Gonzalo López Abente, Espiral Maior (1995), ‘Unha lectura de O soño sulagado’, Xerais (1998), ‘Roberto Blanco Torres. Orballo da medianoite’, Xerais (1998) and ‘A poesía galega de Xervasio Paz Lestón’, Do Castro (1998). He also collaborated in ‘Publicacións periódicas’ and ‘Obras no Diccionario da Literatura Galega’, Galaxia (1997/1999) and, together with Xesús Alonso Montero, he wrote the texts and documents for the conference on García Lorca, University of Santiago de Compostela (1998). He translated into Galician ‘As pegadas de Santiago na cultura de Fisterra’, an essay by Benjamín Trillo Trillo, Caixa Galicia Foundation (1999), ‘Calafrío’, a poetry book by Jorge Justo Padrón, Xerais (2000) and the poems by Bernardino Graña in ‘Poesía gallega contemporánea’, Litoral (1996).
