She took a degree in Philosophy and Arts at Santiago de Compostela University. She worked as an assistant lecturer in the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at Santiago University from 1957 to 1964 and temporary teacher at 'Arzobispo Gelmírez' Secondary School (1957-1965). After a competitive examination, she entered the Corps of Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists in 1959. From 1955 to 1966, she worked as a librarian at Santiago de Compostela University and sub-librarian at Zaragoza University (1966-82). She has directed the University Library in Zaragoza since 1983.

She is a member of the Academy of Medicine (Zaragoza). She was also a commissioner of the exhibition 'Ex Libris Universitatis. El Patrimonio de las Bibliotecas Universitarias Españolas' that took place in Santiago de Compostela from 28th September to 31st December (2000).
