After spending his childhood in Maside (Ourense), he studied Secondary Education in Ourense. He took a degree in Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1966 and his doctorate degree at the same university in 1986. As far as his teaching activity is concerned, he worked at ‘Ibáñez Martín’ Secondary School in Teruel (1966-67 and 1967-68), ‘Agra del Orzán’ Secondary School in A Coruña (1968-69 and 1970-71), ‘Virgen de la Luz’ Secondary School in Avilés (Asturias, 1971-72), ‘Instituto Mixto’ in Carballo (1972-73 and 1974-75) and ‘Sánchez Cantón’ Secondary School in Pontevedra since 1975 up to the moment. He was the assistant manager of the Educational Science Institute (Santiago de Compostela University) during five academic years.

 Work & Activities

He has given over a hundred courses for teachers training and carried out research works on the didactics of Physics and Chemistry and consumer’s training. He published many articles, books and brochures such as Física Básica, Proyecto PEAC de Ciencia Integrada, Aproximación a la integración Ciencia-Tecnología, Los aditivos, Curso Básico de Física y Química en la Enseñanza Secundaria, Influencia de la ubicación de centros universitarios en la elección de estudios, Actividades con etiquetas alimentarias, Láseres, emisores de luz especial, etc. Since 1989, he has been collaborating in the newspaper La Voz de Galicia, writing articles related to popular science, food and consumption, education, etc.

He has been awarded the Research and Educative Innovation National Prize of the Ministry of Education (1984), Consumer’s Defence Prize (1991), ‘Francisco Giner de los Ríos’ Prize (1992), Xunta de Galicia Research Prize (1992), ‘Casa de las Ciencias’ Popular Science Prize (1993) for his work Láseres, emisores de luz especial, Educative Innovation Prize (1997) and accesit to ‘Alimentos de España’ Prize (2001).
