Mª Isabel Freire is married and has two children. She took a degree in Spanish Philology at Santiago de Compostela University. She began to work as a journalist in the radio stationss ‘Cadena Ser’ in Santiago and ‘Radio Gallega’, directing and presenting many current programmes and news. She presented the programme ‘Sombras de crime’ on Galician TV. She usually collaborates in the newspapers O Correo Galego and Galicia Hoxe with commentaries and interviews. She was the head of programmes on the Galician Radio for four years.
She published the stories for children Glub contra Blef and Un susto para Glub (Ir Indo Publications) and some tales in the volumes Narradoras and Narradio (Xerais Publications). Nowadays she publishes an interview every week in the newspaper ‘Galicia Hoxe’.
She is on the board of directors of GALIX (Galician Association of Books for Children and Youth).
