He studied in Madrid, Granada and Germany. In 1997, he took a doctor's degree in Philosophy and Arts at the Complutense University with a thesis about Jean Paul Sartre. Nowadays, he works as Professor of Sociological Theory at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. He directs the department of Sociology and Political science at Santiago University. He is invited as Professor and researcher by several Latin-American Universities (Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia and El Salvador). He is also invited by Minho University (Braga-Portugal), where he usually gives Teaching courses.
He has published several books about religious sociology: Actitud religiosa del universitario español (1967), Tiempo de buscar (1977), Una perspectiva sociocibernética sobre la religión (1996), culture sociology: Mapa cultural de Galicia (1991) , Identidades colectivas y procesos de diferenciación (1996) and sociological theory: Las fronteras de los saberes (1990), La recepción de la sociología europea (1992), Sociocibernética (1994), El Imaginario social de la violencia (1994), Los Imaginarios Sociales (La nueva construcción de la realidad social) (1995), La nueva legitimación de la dominación (1998).He has been carrying out a research programme for the last years titled 'Unha teoría dos imaxinarios sociais'. He is also working in the elaboration and application of the 'systematic constructivism', Niklas Luhmann's position and the research work As culturas do traballo: o cambio dos imaxinarios sociais do traballo na segunda metade do século XX (1950-200).
He usually collaborates with the media. He is the president of the Galicia Association of Science Fiction and writes articles for the bulletin of this association called 'Finis Terrae'He is interested in getting in touch with all the science fiction lovers.
