In 1935, he began to study Secondary Education in A Coruña. Then he studied Chemistry, taking his degree in 1949 and working as an assistant lecturer until 1955 at Santiago de Compostela University. From 1949 to 1955, he ran a laboratory for mineral analysis together with other partners. In 1955, he established himself in Vilagarcía de Arousa, running the jeweller's firm 'Industrias San José', which dedicated to the production of religious medals. Starting from the 70's, other new products were included: Galician craftsmanship, jewellery of the sea, all sort of coining, corporative badges, enamels, etc. In 1987, he created a new engraving technique that he calls 'Microengravings on silver plate'.

 Work & Activities

He has carried out about a hundred works, forty of them related to the Route to Santiago. Twelve of them belong to private collections and the rest of them were interchanged with other artists. His work was presented in the following exhibitions: 'Iberjoya', Madrid (1991-1994); 'La Toja' Art Gallery, O Grove-Pontevedra (1987-1996); 'Salón de la Joyería Gallega', A Coruña (1989-2001). He presented his work in Santiago, Vilagarcía and Burgos (2000) and Lugo, Pontevedra and León (2001). During the year 2002, his collection will be presented in collaboration with the association 'Amigos del Camino Portugués' in Portuguese cities such as Oporto, Ponte de Lima and Barcelos as well as in Tui, Pontevedra and Madrid ('Casa de Galicia').

 Other Interesting Aspects

He filled the following offices: town councillor and mayor in Vilagarcía de Arousa on several occasions, vice-president and president of the local office of 'Rosalía de Castro' Foundation, deputy, managing director of the bank firm 'Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Pontevedra', representative of the presidency of the Open University, first vice-president of the bank firm 'Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Pontevedra', vice-president of the County Council of Pontevedra, general secretary of the Galician Government, being José Quiroga the president, president of the executive committee and coordinator of FEXDEGA editions, president of the Federation of Businessmen in Arousa, member of the plenum of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the Council of Harbour Authority, etc. He is also the president of the Galician platform against drugs traffic. He is married and has two sons a daughter, four granddaughters and a grandson.
