He took a degree in Medicine and Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He started his professional activity at the National Health System at the same time he was carrying out his research activity at the Physiology Department of the University of Santiago de Compostela. In 1997, while he was attending his doctorate studies, he stayed at the INSERM Unit U344, Faculty of Medicine (University of Paris V). One year later, he took the European doctor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery. In 1999, he enjoyed a scholarship of Caixa Galicia Foundation-Claudio San Martín and started his post-doctoral stay at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York (USA) within his programme on Cancer Genetics. Once he returned from the USA in 2004, he entered the Physiology Department at the University of Santiago de Compostela by means of ‘Parga Pondal’ Programme and then as a researcher of ‘Ramón y Cajal’ National Programme.
He is the author of several chapters of books and scientific articles as well as reports in national and international scientific meetings.
He is a member of several national and international scientific societies and academies and was awarded several research prices. He is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
