He has been living in Santiago de Compostela since 1954. He took a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1961 and his doctor’s degree at the same university in 1964. He became a Professor on 2nd December 1975. In the homage offered by his pupils for retirement on 29th September 2008, the vice-chancellor awarded him the Gold Badge of the University of Santiago de Compostela and gave him five hundred copies of Cursus Honorum “Con la satisfacción del deber cumplido” that can be found on digital format both in “Autores galegos na USC” or in a full text in http://www.150facultadefarmacia.com/simal/cursushonorum-simal.pdf

 Work & Activities

He enjoyed a scholarship at the Municipal Laboratory of Paris (1967), where he was responsible for French-Spanish and Portuguese-Spanish Integrated Actions. He is the author of over 300 experimental works on environment, food composition and laboratory practice. He has presented reports in conferences and is the webmaster of (http://www.usc.es/caa/simal.htm). He participated in the 3rd Intercampus Contest on Research and Teaching in the Internet (2005) and in the First online International Conference on Technologies of Science Information and Communication (from 5 to 16 March 2005). He directed 38 doctoral theses, over 150 minor theses and has participated in many research works. In the Xacobeo 2010 (Holy Year) the Consortium of Santiago and the USC published "Láminas de Compostela", including 50 drawings of the city, a text by Juan Conde Roa and other digital drawings associated to "street view": Camino de Santiago, etc.

 Other Interesting Aspects

He was awarded extraordinary prizes for his degree in Pharmacy in 1961 and his doctor’s degree in 1964 as well as many other prizes and distinctions such as Eloy Díaz Prize, Dolores Trigo Prize, Abeja Reina Prize and Prize of the Academy of Pharmacy. He was nominated as ‘daimeleño del año 2002’ (Las tablas de Daimiel, Daimiel - Ciudad Real) for his teaching and research activity as a Professor of Bromatology, Toxicology and Applied Chemical Analysis in the Faculty of Pharmacy in Santiago de Compostela. He is a member of the Patronage of the Spanish Nutrition Society and member of the Galician Academy of Pharmacy. He coordinated doctorate courses until he retired on 30th September 2008. On 29th September 2010 is intending to enter the Reial Acadèmia de Farmàcia de Catalunya with the theme "La contaminación abiótica de alimentos con información y la comunicación (TIC).
