After taking a degree in History at Santiago de Compostela University, he worked as a Spanish conversation assistant at Toulouse University (1927-28). In 1930, he gave a course on Spanish Literature at Bucharest University. From 1930 to 1939, he taught Spanish Literature in several Spanish Secondary Schools. Then he was a Professor in Las Palmas, Valladolid, Salamanca and Alcalá de Henares. From 1925 to 1926, he was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper El Pueblo Gallego (Vigo).

He wrote many articles in the newspaper ABC that were published in the book Los instantes festivos.
