Antonio Taboada was blind since he was a child. He studied Piano, Flute, Harmony and Composition. He conducted orchestral groups of classic music and was a chapel master in Pontevedra. As a composer, he left an important work in several musical genres.
One of his most important works is the 'zarzuela' Los hijos de Minerva. He collaborated with Dr Mascaró, who created a mixed writing system for the blind and those who are not blind.
When he died, the County Council of Pontevedra created 'Antonio Taboada Nieto' Prize to improve studies on piano.
