He studied Teaching in A Coruña, getting his first post in 1962. From 1963 to 1968, he studied Philosophy and Arts at 'Complutense' University in Madrid. During the course 1969-70, he worked as an assistant lecturer at the Metaphysics Department. Then he taught Philosophy in Jerez de la Frontera, Madrid, Viveiro and Lugo. From 1974-1977, he was the headmaster at the Secondary School of Viveiro. From 1977 to 1979, he was a teacher and deputy head at 'Nuestra Señora de los Ojos Grandes' Secondary School (evening classes) in Lugo. During the course 1979-80, he entered the Corps of Grammar-school Teachers working at 'Lucus Augusti' Secondary School in Lugo. He filled the offices of deputy head (1982-85) and secretary of the 'INGABAD' (Galician Open Secondary School).
From 1991 to 2005, he was delegate of the 'Consellería de Cultura e Xuventude'/ 'Consellería de Cultura, Comunicación Social e Turismo' of the Xunta de Galicia in Lugo.
