He began to study with her father and went on with Carlota Bernard in Montevideo, where she lived during her youth and made her début performing The magic flute by Mozart. She married the baritone Antonio Blancas and returned to Europe in 1963. A few years later, she signed a contract at the Düsseldorf Opera and won the 'Voci Verdiani' Contest. Then, she was successful in Italy and began to perform all over Europe.
